Host a Lunch 2.0 on World Entrepreneurship Day! (Fri, Apr 17)
Hello Lunch 2.0-ers! I’m Lauren Amarante, co-founder of World Entrepreneurship Day (WED), the first initiative of its kind to honor entrepreneurial spirit on a global scale one day every year. WED will take place worldwide this Friday, April 17th with the mission of “Rejuvenating the World through Entrepreneurship.” Because – let’s face it – the world could use a little ‘entrepreneurial rejuvenation’ right now… And – I ask you – what better rejuvenation food than watermelon??
The inspiration for starting WED is very similar to that of Lunch 2.0 – a desire to connect with and learn about entrepreneurs in your community and around the world. During a time when the world must be focusing on innovation and entrepreneurship, WED is serving as a vehicle for companies, organizations, universities, and K-12 schools to do just that. The idea is to get involved in whatever way you can, and it doesn’t have to cost a cent!
Some examples of events taking place worldwide on 4/17 include:
• An entrepreneurship workshop for the recently jobless in Cameroon.
• “Entrepreneurial Story-time” for a kindergarten class in Arizona.
• A large conference in Tanzania offering microfinance and market research training to its local community,
• And many more!
Why host a Lunch2.0 on World Entrepreneurship Day? Well, because – “It’s about time we had a special day for the people who brought us the car, the computer, the cheeseburger, the cell phone, the airplane, banking, software, email, the pill, indoor plumbing….” – TIM DRAPER, DFJ. We would be honored to have your company or organization join in the worldwide celebration of our entrepreneurial heroes… and like Lunch2.0’s Joseph Smarr said to me, “What better way to talk entrepreneurship than over lunch?”
So host a Lunch 2.0 and let us know about it! We’ll promote it here and also at WED. (Start by registering here!)
(Thank you to Joseph, Terrence, Mark, and the Lunch 2.0 Team for having me on this guest post.)
