[...] Today I went to a Lunch 2.0 event at the Plug and Play Tech Center in Sunnyvale that was much more my speed. There were about 200 people there, and the majority were either the typical tech entrepreneur types I’m familiar with, or engineers from companies like HP or Apple. At lunch I met a new kind of banker. His firm specializes in loaning money to startups who need to make it between funding rounds. He claimed to make his loan decisions based on his personal knowledge and opinion of the founders, and didn’t seem to have any problem with loaning money to firms with no revenue. I’ve never heard of anything like that in Boston. The idea of a banker even trying to know entrepreneurs personally is a shock. When I opened the bank account for Grazr, after we got our funding, I put $1.5M into the account, and then asked for a corporate credit card with a few thousand dollars of credit to manage our travel expenses. They said they couldn’t possibly give us a card for at least 6 months. I bet if I asked to borrow money with no business plan or revenue, they would have laughed. [...]

The Minekey Lunch 2.0 was a great success! 263 guests attended. Everyone seemed to really enjoy the outdoor BBQ, DJay, networkin and presentation by CEO Delip Andra. Thanks to the Lunch 2.0 crew for all your help.
