Lunch 2.0 ‘Web Expo’ Blowout at Hitachi Data Systems
This is a very special Lunch 2.0 – it’s a Web Expo and a free lunch all rolled into one! Check out ten web companies that will show off their data-intensive websites at this upcoming Lunch 2.0 –and yes, this is a free event to all attendees and exhibitors. It’s all happening on Tuesday, September 12th. Here are the details:
What is it and Who will be there?
If you don’t know what Lunch 2.0 is, you can view previous events on flickr, videos to see what you’ve been missing out on, or visit the Lunch2.0 website to learn more.
Robert Scoble and the PodTech crew will be showing up to record the event, of course other bloggeratti will attend as well: Kristopher Tate, Thomas Hawk, Jeremy Pepper, Martin McKeay, Ian Kennedy, Damon Billian, Shel Israel, Scott Beale, Mario Sundar, Gave Rivera, Marc Canter (maybe). Pandora will “DJ” the party. There are folks coming as far from Ireland, and UK!
The Final 10 Companies for the “Web Expo” include:
Hosted at Hitachi Data Systems, Santa Clara
The Community Manager, Jeremiah Owyang of Hitachi Data Systems is the coordinator of this Lunch 2.0 Web Expo Blowout. You’ll be able to enjoy the Hitachi Data Systems Briefing Center, and play foosball, pool, ping pong, or shuffleboard.
Be one of the 10 Companies displaying at the Web Expo!
(Update Aug 29th: All slots for the Expo are filled, it was hard to narrow it down with the dozen submissions. If this event is a success we can repeat it and use other submissions. So feel free to email jeremiah_owyang@yahoo.com with your contact info and brief company summary)
For companies wanting to show off their site, this is a free, prime opportunity! Hitachi Data Systems will provide the location, (see this picture–it can fit hundreds) tables, chairs, internet LAN connections, and power for these companies. All you need to do is send an email to (jeremiah_owyang@yahoo.com) describing your website, and what your web company does. The focus for the expo is on companies that store large amounts of data (we’re at Hitachi Data Systems, after all!). No cost to be presenter. And did I mention it’s free?
If you’re selected you’ll be allowed to bring two laptops, and any schwag or business cards. The idea is to give an informal, stripped down demo of what your company is doing (this is web 2.0–no large booths!
).
Where:
Hitachi Data Systems Headquarters
750 Central, Building 34 (map) -entrance is on Lafayette street
Santa Clara, CA, 95050
When:
Tuesday, Sept 12th
11:30am-2:00pm
(Related Events: The Future of Web Apps Conference by Carson Workshops in SF is Wed and Thur, we were mindful in choosing the Lunch2.0 date to not conflict with this progressive conference)
Who can come:
Web folks, bloggers, podcasters, videobloggers, anyone interested in Lunch 2.0.
What to bring:
Camera, Videocamera, Empty Stomach, the event is free!

[...] Jeremiah (host of the upcoming Lunch 2.0 Web Expo Blowout at Hitachi Data Systems) just pointed me to an article in The Register about Tim Berners-Lee complaining that “Web 2.0″ is all hype and nothing new. As evidence that the “2.0″ suffix has become trendy and meaningless, the author Gavin Clarke writes: We have: SOA 2.0, enterprise 2.0, grid 2.0, VoIP 2.0, voice 2.0, BPM 2.0, Office 2.0 and – outside of pure technology – advertising 2.0 and marketing 2.0 (both – naturally – taking advantage of Web 2.0’s social networking technologies), business development 2.0 and – subverting the genre – hidsight 2.0 and lunch 2.0.
